Take my computer away from me!
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
It needs a bit of welding on the driver side footwell and around the fuel cap. The headliner in the front is missing and the front seat covers where replaced. The engine runs but is leaking a bit. It has 80hp and a 3 speed manual.
It has a US title and all the paperwork.
I haven’t had a van yet. Please stop me!

Best idea - convert the engine to turbo spec, improve springs, leave body as-is.

Too late. Also, the trans should be easy to upgrade to a four speed stick from a ‘64+ normal Corvair- other than a rework of linkage.

Providing parts would be costly in this part of the world... or I could go Porsche parts... which would be costly too

But, on the other hand, the base cost of the parts in the US is not bad, so you just need an accomplice to collect and box them up.

Just, no. A couple guys called in to Car Talk once - they'd bought one of these and were going to drive it cross-country to get it home. They asked what they needed to take with them. Ray, without hesitating, said "a tow truck."

You could go windsurfing, but it looks less cool.

Corvair parts are relatively expensive even in the US compared to other old American cars. There’s only two places that sell parts and they both suck as far as ship times. A lot of the stuff is unique to the corvair.

Not precisely, but it would be rude to refuse if you asked. BiTurbo was kind enough to hoard some Cortina taillight parts for me in the UK once, so I’ve received the benefit of this sort of thing from Club Oppo before.

Just kidding, but an Oppo part exchange could be handy to get parts from everywhere anywhere.

Ah, I see. I was going by a cursory look at used eBay spares, which didn’t seem too bad. New would be different. Probably not too different than having a Land Rover in the US, then - the two main businesses (Rovers North and Atlantic British/British Pacific) really like to charge as much as they can get, which is not helped by a lot of what they sell being for more expensive models.
I’m looking on RockAuto, and it seems they stock a lot of the maintenance and basic repair basics, so I’m assuming you’re talking mostly engine parts and unusual parts.

Yeah, engine and transmission parts can be weird to find sometimes, and GM randomly switched up a bunch of stuff within model years. Land Rover parts are probably still more expensive, but your Rover will still be worth something at the end of the day. There’s no market for Corvairs. You can find nice ones for cheap. I sold my running Monza for $1,200.
